ED: With many hot burger joints in the food scene, competition is hot and every joint has their own unique concept and traits to survive the endless horde of burger hungry Singaporeans. Armed with a novelty concept, Burger Bench & Bar seems to be among the few in the front line. B3 (Burger Bench & Bar) are a Western/Japanese fusion style burger joint that uses real meat from Australia and real fish fillets & chicken breasts rather than re-constituted meat. They also do not use preservatives or artificial flavouring! (Means their burgers don’t last for 4 years without decomposing 😀 ) Their believe- Fast food doesn’t mean junk food!
My partner and I decided to fuel up at B3 before watching Transformers 3 (which was kick ass and Megatron died) We were contemplated to order fries as we wanted to put BFF (Best Fries Forever) to the test and we order just 2 burgers in the end. I had the Mushroom Beef Burger while she chose the most interesting choice in my opinion, the Green Curry Catfish Burger!
Mushroom Beef Burger $8.20
While waiting, we could actually hear spanking sounds in the kitchen. Nothing kinky what are you thinking? They really do hand pack their burgers! Unless.. It was really the sound of something else. The burgers arrived pretty quickly on a Japanese bento tray. It was average in size unlike those American style burgers. The sesame bun was slightly toasted. Juice oozed out as i my teeth sliced through the medium beef patty and the fresh button mushrooms burst which each bite and the crunchy shredded cabbage was refreshing as the mayonnaise and melted cheese wrapped everything together into a tasty treat in my mouth. The texture was great, beef was cooked just right and moist. But I felt they should have had more seasoning in the beef patty. Other than that it was a decently good burger. $8.20 for that burger alone, they should make it a little bigger.
Green Curry Catfish Burger $8.20
The catfish fillet deserved a badge of honour. It was crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside and it was fresh. The thought of the green curry is making my ears feel itchy. The curry was really flavourful and quite spicy but i like the kick from it. Perfect fish fillet with a dynamite green curry sauce, I think we have a winner. Only thing is I wished they balanced out the green curry with more mayonnaise.
Overall this burger joint did pretty well for the fish burger, but the beef patty was a miss for me. But still it’s worth a try I would say.
